One crore fine and 10 years in jail for paper leaking in Jharkhand, draft of new law ready
Ranchi (IANS). Jharkhand government is going to bring a strict law to curb paper leak and cheating in competitive examinations. Under this, there will be a provision to impose a fine of one crore, 10 years in jail and a fine of up to ten lakh rupees on the culprits of leaking the paper.
There will also be a provision of fine of one lakh and imprisonment of up to three years on the candidates who cheat.
The government has prepared the draft of the anti-copying law. The bill related to this will be introduced in the monsoon session of the assembly to be held this month.
According to the draft, the property of printing press, coaching institutes, service providers, management of persons guilty of paper leak will also be confiscated.
Similarly, if a student is found guilty of cheating, he/she will be debarred from appearing in competitive examinations for the next two years.
CM Hemant Soren had also said in a public meeting last week that we are bringing an anti-copying law to ensure that competitive examinations are conducted in the state with full transparency and injustice is not done to any meritorious candidate.
Let us tell you that at present Jharkhand Exam Conduct Rule 2001 is applicable in the state, under which there is a provision of minor punishment and fine in cases of paper leak and copying. The law prescribes a maximum sentence of six months and a fine of up to three thousand rupees.
