One person shot, 13 booked for attempt to murder
Chatiwind police have charged more than 13 people with attempt to murder after a man was shot dead by an old enemy in Bohru village.

Complainant Navjeet Singh told the police that he works as a driver in Amritsar Municipal Corporation. He said that on Friday night the suspects entered his house and threw bricks and stones, injuring his father Balwinder Singh and his elder brother Malkit Singh. He said yesterday that he and his brother-in-law Lovepreet Singh were going to Chatiwind police station when the suspects stopped them and threatened to shoot them. The suspects fired several bullets at them, one of which hit Navjeet’s leg. Later, when people started gathering at the spot, the suspects fled. Navjeet was taken to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for treatment.
Police said a case has been registered against the suspects under sections 307, 452, 341, 323, 427, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Police said that raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects. Further investigation into the incident has been initiated.
