Bengaluru. The meeting of opposition parties in Bengaluru continues for the second day on Tuesday. The Congress is hoping to send a strong message to the nation ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This meeting has become important because in this meeting prominent politicians and chief ministers of various states who oppose the ideology of BJP are involved.
Sources said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will be converted into the Indian National Democratic Alliance (India). AICC general secretary KC Venugopal had hinted at changing the name of the UPA alliance. Leaders of 26 political parties from across the country are participating in the meeting. According to media reports, NCP founder and former Chief Minister Sharad Pawar, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Singh were present in the meeting. Soren, Shiv Sena-UBT chief and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, CPI -M leader Sitaram Yechury and others are taking part.
Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge are also attending the meeting. The leaders showed solidarity and waved to media persons before entering the meeting hall held at Hotel Taj West End. The scheduled meeting was delayed due to the demise of senior Kerala Congress leader and former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
