Orange alert issued in Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Cuddalore for January 7

Chennai: The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) on Saturday issued an orange alert for Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Cuddalore for January 7 (Sunday).

According to this, there will be heavy rain in these districts on Sunday.

Besides, heavy rainfall is more likely today over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai.

The rainfall prediction is attributed to the low atmospheric circulation near the Lakshadweep region and similar circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
