Orissa HC bans sand mining, hearing on February 1

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has imposed a complete ban on sand mining, reliable reports said on Wednesday.

The High Court has again banned lifting of sand with machines. An interim stay has been put on the notification of the Mines Department.

The notification was issued by the Mines Department on December 21. In this, permission was given to lift sand by machines as per requirement. This notification was challenged in the High Court. In response to which the court said that there will be a ban on sand mining till the next hearing.

The next hearing of the case will be on 1 February 2024.
