He further wrote, ‘Reaching the number-1 position in white ball cricket was the result of the collective efforts of the players, coaches and management. I would like to express my gratitude to the Pakistani cricket fans for their unwavering support during this journey. Babar said, ‘Today I am leaving the captaincy of the Pakistan team in all three formats. This is a difficult decision but I think this is the right time to take it. I will continue to represent Pakistan as a player in all three formats. The new captain and the team will have my full support. I am also grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for giving me this important responsibility.
