Paris Hilton welcomes daughter, names her London
Los Angeles: Socialite Paris Hilton surprised her fans on Thanksgiving by announcing that she has welcomed a baby girl via surrogate and named her London.
The 42-year-old star shared the happy news by posting a pink baby outfit with the name ‘London’ emblazoned on it – revealing the gender and name of her baby. “Grateful for my baby girl,” the heiress captioned the photo.
After initially confusing fans by not telling whether the baby was on the way or had already been born, Paris clarified in a TikTok comment that her daughter had already arrived, writing: “My princess has arrived !!”
This is her second child with husband Carter Ream, 42. The pair welcomed son Phoenix via surrogate in January, reports dailymail.co.uk.
Paris also shared a sweet photo of her baby on Instagram Stories, and proudly called him “big brother.”
After announcing the news on Instagram, Paris shared an adorable clip of her nephew and niece on her TikTok, asking: ‘Are you guys excited for your new cousin?’
‘Do you have two children?’ He inquired.
‘I have two children,’ she confirmed. In the clip, she was seen holding her son in her lap.
‘Precious moment. He captioned the clip, ‘Family is everything.’
Although the news of the arrival of their second child is quite a surprise, the name doesn’t seem to suggest it.
Hilton revealed in a live chat episode of her podcast on March 1 that if she had ever had a daughter 10 years ago, she would have chosen the name London.
She said, “I’m so excited that one day Phoenix will have a little sister—who will be named London. It’s my favorite city and I’ve always wanted to name my daughter London.”
She said, “I actually chose this name a long time ago, probably more than 10 years ago. I always wanted London. I love this name for my daughter.”
Named after the French capital, the heiress apparently wanted to keep the tradition of naming the city alive with her children, admitting that coming up with Phoenix wasn’t easy.
‘It was hard to choose (Phoenix) because a lot of cities I like wouldn’t sound good as names,’ he said.
‘Just like Ibiza would be so weird as a baby name, Vegas would be weird too. It’s hard to find a good name like City for a boy. ‘Except London, (because) it works for both,’ he said.
An episode of their reality show ‘Paris in Love’ revealed that Paris and Carter literally didn’t tell anyone about Phoenix, not even their own families.
In the video, Carter is seen driving with Paris in the passenger seat. She tells him: “If people found out, there would be paparazzi everywhere in Cedars (Sinai). I’m hoping and praying that no one at the hospital will tell.”
“If anyone recognizes me, pretend it’s our nephew,” Paris says, as Carter jokes, “Now we can’t reveal ourselves, we’ve done such a good job.”
Paris is then seen in her walk-in closet, saying, ‘Literally no one knows’ about her baby. Nobody knows in this house. No one working at my media company knows. My friends don’t know. My own family doesn’t know,’ she said.
Her husband Carter shared in the confessional: “I don’t think it ever hit me, we weren’t supposed to tell anyone. It was really Paris.”
“My initial inclination was to tell my family and get everyone excited. She kind of had to keep the secret, but she had to go through life to keep herself safe, so I was going to do everything I could to be a good partner. Whatever I could do,” he said in the clip.
Following the birth of Phoenix via surrogate in January, Hilton revealed in late February that she underwent IVF treatment in an attempt to have a daughter.
