Part of building collapses in Delhi, mother and son die

New Delhi (IANS). A 30-year-old woman and her three-year-old child were killed when a concrete shed collapsed in the corridor of a building in West Delhi on Tuesday. Police gave this information.

The deceased have been identified as Mamta and her son, residents of Arihant Nagar in Punjabi Bagh area. The police revealed that the building was vacant, but Mamta and her family had been living there for the past few years as caretakers of the property.

According to the police, they received a call on Tuesday at the Punjabi Bagh police station, informing about a building collapse in Arihant Nagar. On receiving the information, a police team immediately reached the spot.

Police found Mamta and a child trapped under the debris of the collapsed concrete shed in the corridor of the building, both injured. The police immediately took both of them to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for treatment. The official said that the medical staff of the hospital declared both brought dead.

A senior police officer said investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.
