Peaceful struggle will continue for restoration of rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir: NC leader Omar Abdullah
National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that his party will not disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir even in the event of an adverse decision of the Supreme Court on the petitions challenging the abrogation of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution.
The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said that his party will continue its fight for the restoration of the rights of the people of the region through peaceful means as given in the Constitution.
“what’s wrong with that? Don’t we have the right to say this in a democracy? Can’t we raise objections in democracy? If others can speak then why can’t we?” Abdullah asked at a party conference in Rafiabad in Baramulla district.
The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on the petitions challenging the abrogation of the provisions of Article 370 on Monday.
The Center on August 5, 2019, abrogated the provisions of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into union territories.
