Perpetual Succour CHS cruise into semis
Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim flexed their footballing prowess on Tuesday, securing victories in both the boys’ and girls’ categories of the All Goa Inter-School Under-14 Football Tournament organized by the United Sports Club of Seraulim in memory of Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa. This dominant performance earned them berths in the respective semifinals.
In the boys’ match, Perpetual Succour Navelim faced Manovikas HS Margao. They wasted no time establishing dominance, with Cain Fernandes netting a quick brace in the 3rd and 10th minutes. This early lead put the Margao team on the back foot, and Perpetual Succour maintained control throughout the game. Jonas Vaz delivered the final blow in the 43rd minute, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory and propelling them into the next round.
The girls’ team mirrored the boys’ success, delivering a resounding 4-0 victory against Manovikas HS Margao. The star of the show was Clea Colaco, who mesmerized the crowd with a stunning hat-trickfollowed by Venicia Carvalho who chipped in with another goal, solidifying their lead and ensuring their progression to the semifinals.
With Perpetual Succour Navelim securing their spots, the anticipation for the remaining quarterfinal matches grows. Tomorrow, Infant Jesus HS Colva will face off against St. Anthony’s HS Majorda in both the girls’ and boys’ categories, promising captivating encounters on the pitch. Kick-off times are set at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively.
