Piyush Goyal arrives in Chennai: BJP candidate list to be released today

Tamil Nadu: It is reported that the list of BJP candidates for the assembly elections will be released today. Union Minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal will visit Chennai for this.
The BJP has been allotted 27 seats in the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance in Tamil Nadu. The list of seats the party will contest was already released. Following this, the BJP leadership is showing seriousness in selecting candidates. In the 2021 elections, Coimbatore South, which was won by BJP Women’s Wing National President Vanathi Srinivasan, and Tirunelveli, which was won by State President Nainar Nagendran, were not given to the BJP this time.
Therefore, it is being said that Nainar Nagendran may contest from the Sattur seat and Vanathi Srinivasan from the Coimbatore North seat.
In this tense atmosphere, National Organization General Secretary P.L. A high-level consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Santosh to select candidates for 27 seats. Senior leaders such as State President Naina Nagendran, Senior Incharge Sudhakar Reddy, Mahallirani National President Vanathi Srinivasan, and senior leader Tamilisai Soundararajan participated in the consultation meeting.
The consultation meeting discussed who among those who expressed interest in contesting the elections could win if nominated, their influence in the constituency, and their experience working within the party.
The party had expected former BJP State President K. Annamalai to participate in the consultation meeting on candidate selection. However, he did not attend.
Annamalai is said to have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah stating that he will not contest the assembly elections.
In such a situation, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal will visit Chennai to announce the list of BJP candidates contesting the assembly elections.
Piyush Goyal is expected to release the list of BJP candidates.
