PM Modi called a high-level meeting, discussed Manipur
New Delhi (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting, which was attended by Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman and Hardeep Singh Puri. It is believed that the situation in Manipur was discussed in this.
Sources in the Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment on the meeting, though it is learned that Shah briefed Modi on the situation in Manipur as well as the all-party meeting convened on June 24.
The meeting was called within 12 hours of the Prime Minister’s return from a state visit to the US and Egypt.
The opposition has been alleging that the BJP governments at the Center and in Manipur have “failed miserably” to deal with caste violence. He has been repeatedly attacking the PM for his silence on this issue.
Since the violence that broke out in Manipur on May 3, over 100 people have died while over 300 others have been injured.
About 50,000 people have also been displaced from their homes as a result of the conflict.
