PM Modi inaugurated the new Parliament House
New Delhi (IANS) | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the new Parliament House after installing the historic ‘Sengol’ near the Lok Sabha Speaker’s chair. The Prime Minister, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, unveiled a plaque to mark the inauguration of the new Parliament House.
The Prime Minister also honored the workers involved in the construction and development of the new Parliament House by presenting them with shawls and mementos.
PM Modi participated in the ‘Sarva-Dharma’ (all-religious) prayer ceremony at the new Parliament House along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and cabinet ministers.
The ceremony started with a Havan in the morning. Representatives of 25 political parties and several dignitaries including Chief Ministers and Ministers are present on the occasion.
Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar and Jitendra Singh, chief ministers of several states and BJP president J.P. Nadda is also present.
Twenty opposition parties, including the Congress, are boycotting the inauguration of the new four-storey Parliament building.
