PM Modi lays foundation stone for redevelopment of 3 railway stations in Uttarakhand
Dehradun (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday virtually laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station Scheme. Three of these stations are in Uttarakhand.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present at Harrawala Railway Station on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of these railway stations. These 508 railway stations to be redeveloped at a cost of over Rs 24470 crore under the AMRUT Bharat Railway Station Scheme are in 27 states and union territories. These railway stations include three railway stations in Uttarakhand, Harrawala, Roorkee and Lalkuan, which will be redeveloped.
Amrit Bharat railway stations will be equipped with world-class facilities along with modern facilities for passengers. The design of the station building will reflect the local culture, heritage and architecture. These stations will have state-of-the-art facilities for passengers.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Modi for laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three railway stations in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said, “In the last nine years, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, works have been done at a very fast pace in the railway sector. We are moving towards the golden age of Indian Railways. Indian Railways is being prepared to meet the aspirations of New India and the expectations of self-reliant India.
The Chief Minister said that on the one hand, Indian Railways has been made safer than before by eliminating unmanned level crossings from broad gauge rail lines, and on the other hand, the speed of Indian Railways has also increased more than ever, self-reliance. And as a symbol of modernity, Made in India trains like Vande Bharat are becoming a part of the rail network. At present, the work of connecting the untouched parts of the country with rail work is also going on at a fast pace. The work of electrification of railway lines is also being done with such speed for the first time. Till 2014, 1350 km of railway line was electrified but since 2014 till now this figure has reached 6,565 km. In 2014, 1561 km of railway tracks were laid in the country, which has become 5243 km in 2023.
Cabinet Minister Premchand Aggarwal, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, MLA Khajan Das, Brij Bhushan Gairola, Savita Kapoor, Padma Shri Pritam Bharatwan and officials of Indian Railways were present on the occasion.
