‘PM Modi stood with Israel in times of crisis’

United Nations: India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, R. Ravindra said Prime Minister Narendra Modi “stands in solidarity with Israel in its hour of crisis”. Speaking at a high-level Security Council meeting on Palestine following Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on Tuesday, Ravindra said: “Our Prime Minister was the first to express his condolences on the loss of lives and property and offered prayers for the innocent victims and their families. . He stood in solidarity with Israel in this time of crisis.”

“The terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7 were shocking and we unequivocally condemn them.” On the October 17 Gaza hospital bombings, which killed more than 425 people, he said: “We also expressed our deep shock at the tragic loss of life.”

Ravindra said: “Our Prime Minister clearly said that those involved in this should be held responsible.” Israel blamed the blast on a failed rocket launch by the Islamic Jihad terrorist group targeting Israel, a charge also confirmed by the US.

On the other hand, Palestinians have said that all this was done by Israel, many countries also repeated this claim in the council meeting. Ravindra said, “Civilian casualties in the conflict are a matter of serious and concern. “All parties must protect civilians, especially women and children”.

On resolution of the Israel-Palestine crisis, he reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution. “India, taking into account Israel’s security concerns, supports the establishment of a sovereign, independent State of Palestine living within secure and recognized borders at peace with Israel.”

To achieve this goal, he said, every effort should be made to create favorable conditions for the resumption of direct negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
