Ahmedabad (Gujarat): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday visited Ambaji temple and also inaugurated various projects worth Rs 5950 crore in Gujarat. These projects are spread across multiple sectors including Indian Railways, Gujarat Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation, Water Resources Department, Water Supply Department, Roads and Buildings Department and Urban Development Department.
These projects will benefit districts of Gujarat like Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mahisagar, Gandhinagar and Patan. Modi also inaugurated 16 projects in Dabhoda village. Of these, eight projects were officially inaugurated, while the remaining eight are in various stages of development.
Indian Railways and Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation have played an important role in these projects. The railway projects unveiled include the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor section from New Bhandu to New Sanand at Mehsana, spanning 77 km, and a 24 km long connecting line, which simultaneously includes a second electrified double line.
Additionally, Modi also inaugurated the extension of the 182 km railway line from Viramgam to Samkhiyali, effectively converting it into double track. This railway network will pass through districts like Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi and Rajkot. Apart from this, a 29.65 km railway project between Katosan-Bechraji in Mehsana under the supervision of Gujarat Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation was also inaugurated.
The Water Resources Department also highlighted projects including recharge of various lakes in the delta region of Vijapur and Mansa taluka. Also, construction of Valsana Barrage on Sabarmati River at Mehsana was started. In Mahisagar district, the Panam Reservoir-based lift irrigation project is set to enhance irrigation capabilities by connecting various lakes in Santrampur taluk. These projects worth Rs 270 crore hold significant potential for agricultural development of the region.
