PM Modi’s initiative, nationwide cervical cancer vaccination campaign launched

Odisha: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the nationwide cervical cancer vaccination program on February 28th, providing this life-saving vaccine to teenage girls.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced that girls up to 14 years of age will receive the single-dose vaccine. The government has issued separate guidelines for easy implementation.

Officials confirmed that this initiative is part of a larger cancer prevention strategy. By 2026-27, the Chief Minister’s Cancer Care Mission will be launched, focusing on the treatment and prevention of all types of cancer. This mission will spend ₹311 crore to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and reduce cancer-related deaths.

The cervical cancer vaccine program aims to protect teenage girls from one of the most common cancers affecting women in India. Health experts believe that early vaccination can significantly reduce future risks.

The government’s plan demonstrates a strong commitment to public health and preventive care. With the launch of this program, India is taking a major step toward reducing the burden of cervical cancer and ensuring better health outcomes for generations to come.
