Police arrested 5 bookies operating online cricket betting
Raipur. 5 bookies have been arrested while conducting online cricket betting. According to the information, the team of Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit received information that some people are operating online betting near Gracious School located at Kathia Chowk under Abhanpur police station area. On which Additional Superintendent of Police City/Crime Abhishek Maheshwari and Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Neeraj Chandrakar, in-charge Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and station in-charge Abhanpur were directed to verify the information and take necessary action.
On which the joint team of Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Police Station Abhanpur went to the said place and arrested the persons of the character told by the informer. During interrogation, the persons revealed their names to be Sandeep Tete, Dev Kurre, Birendra Sarathi, Kunal Yadav and Rahul Kumhar. On checking their mobile phones and laptops by the team members, they were found to be conducting online cricket betting through Cricket 99, Bet Bhai 9, Betbook 237 and other sites, including the transaction of betting money in several bank accounts. Also found. On which five accused were arrested and a total of 18 mobile phones, 02 laptops, 01 calculator and 01 extension box Jumla worth Rs. Number 326/23 Section Ch.C. Section 07 and 08 of the Gambling Prohibition Act 2022 was registered and action was taken. Detailed investigation is being done of the bank accounts used by the accused for betting money transactions.
