Police exposed mobile theft syndicate worth lakhs, two thieves arrested
New Delhi. Hundreds of mobile phones are stolen or snatched every day in the capital Delhi. The victim has no other option except filing a complaint with the police. The police tries to track the stolen mobile phone through its IMEI number and when the mobile is recovered, it is handed over to its owner. But, Delhi Police has made a big revelation regarding stolen mobile phones. Investigation has revealed that mobile phones stolen in the capital are being used in Bangladesh. And for this the path of West Bengal is being adopted. This sensational disclosure has been made by Inspector Vishnu Dutt and Head Constable Mohit of Anti Narcotics Cell posted in South East Delhi. Generally, to track a stolen mobile phone, its IMEI number is put on surveillance. The police waits for a SIM to be activated in the mobile and its location can be ascertained. But the police became suspicious when they started facing problems in tracking the stolen mobile phones.
Inspector Vishnu Dutt and Head Constable Mohit of Anti Narcotics Cell posted in South East Delhi investigated the strange situation in depth. They arrested two youths named Akhil Ahmed and Nawab Sharif with suspicious bags. When searched, 112 phones were recovered from the bag. Most of the mobiles were quite expensive. During interrogation, it was revealed that all the phones were either stolen or snatched from people from Delhi-NCR. Police interrogation revealed that the stolen mobile phones were being sent to neighboring country Bangladesh via Blue Dirt Courier via West Bengal. So far 160 parcels have been sent to Bangladesh. There are 14 phones in one parcel. The accused have so far sent 2240 mobile phones worth Rs 5 crore to the neighboring country. Police said that Akhil Ahmed runs a mobile repairing shop. Along with his partner, he buys stolen, snatched mobile phones and then parcels them in Bangladesh. Police said that this syndicate is being run at the international level. After informing the accused, one of his associates, Sabir Sardar, was arrested from West Bengal. Police say that now they are searching for those miscreants who used to supply mobile phones for theft and robbery to these accused.
