Cuttack: Large section of road caved in following heavy rain, traffic movement affected

Cuttack: A large section of the road in Cuttack Development Authority (CDA)-10 area of Cuttack City caved in following heavy rain affecting traffic movement this afternoon.

Different parts of Cuttack City witnessed heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm this afternoon following which water waterlogging was witnessed on the road. The intensity of rain was such that a large section of the road measuring approximately 30 feet in length, 15 feet in width, and 10 feet in depth, caved in.

Some commuters who were passing through the route when the road caved in had a narrow escape. Though none was injured due to the incident, it raised a serious safety concerns. Traffic movement was affected after the road caved in.

Meanwhile, the local residents expressed their annoyance over the incident and alleged that the large section of road caved in as the road is being dug frequently for different works. They also placed some bamboos around the pothole as signage with the aim to alert the commuters so that they do not fall into the pit.

The local residents also requested the concerned local representatives, administration and officials to soon repair the pothole and bring traffic normalcy on the route.
