Nalgonda Collector expresses dissatisfaction over education department’s negligence

Ramagiri: Nalgonda Collector Badugu Chandrasekhar has expressed his deep dissatisfaction over the negligence of the District Education Department in completing the pre-matric scholarship registration process.
The Collector, responding to the non-completion of the target by January 30, has issued show-cause notices to 22 Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) in the district.
MEOs across the district, who received show cause notices, were required to upload the applications of 3,122 students online by January 30, but only 2,320 were completed. As a result, the district collector issued show cause notices on the 6th of this month for failing to meet the deadlines for welfare schemes intended for SC and ST students.
This matter was not disclosed by the district education department, but it came to light late. They warned that strict action would be taken if satisfactory explanations were not submitted within two days. In the review meeting held last month, the collector had set January 30 as the deadline. However, there are allegations that it was not heeded at the field level. It is understood that this action was taken in this context.
