Pongal cash gift for all rice card holders: Tamil Nadu government

Chennai: Relaxing the norms for receiving a cash gift of Rs 1,000 on Pongal, the Tamil Nadu government has announced that all rice ration card holders are eligible to avail the same.

The official release said that all rice ration card holders will get a cash gift.

Earlier, apart from state, central government and PSU employees, taxpayers, Chinese and non-commodity card holders also did not get the benefit.

However, Chinese and non-commodity card holders are still not eligible for Pongal cash gifts and hampers.
