Portronics launches new cell battery in India, charging cells directly via Type-C cable

Technology: Portronics has launched its new Lithius Cell rechargeable battery series in India. The company has introduced this lineup in two variants, AA and AAA. Their most notable feature is their built-in USB Type-C port, eliminating the need for a charger or dock. They can be charged directly with a Type-C cable. Portronics claims that the Lithius Cell provides a stable output of 1.5V, delivering consistently high performance to devices like TV remotes, keyboards, gaming controllers, cameras, toys, lamps, and many other everyday gadgets.
Portronics’ new battery lineup also focuses on durable design. The Lithius Cell features a leakage-proof reinforced shell, which, according to the company, can withstand pressure for extended periods and reduces the risk of rupture or damage. Portronics has also provided multi-layer protection, such as short-circuit protection, over-voltage and over-discharge protection, heat control, and surge protection, to ensure the longevity of both the battery and the connected device.
Portronics says these batteries retain their charge even after extended resting periods, eliminating the need for frequent recharging and making them a more sustainable alternative to single-use batteries.
Portronics offers the Lithius Cell in two models – AAA and AA. The AAA variant offers a capacity of 440mAh (666mWh), while the AA variant comes with a larger capacity of 1480mAh (2220mWh) for devices requiring more power. The company says the Lithius Cell series has been specifically designed for users who want energy-efficient, convenient, and eco-friendly power solutions.
In terms of pricing and availability, the Portronics Lithius Cell AAA USB-C Rechargeable Battery (Pair) is priced at ₹499, while the Lithius Cell AA USB-C Rechargeable Battery (Pair) is available for ₹449. Both variants are available on the official Portronics website, leading e-commerce platforms, and select retail stores.
