Pothanur-Chennai Central special train service extended

Tamil Nadu: Southern Railway has announced the extension of the weekly special train service between Podanur and Chennai Central for nine additional days, in response to increased passenger traffic and travel convenience. This decision brings relief to passengers who frequently travel on this route during the summer season and holidays. The Railways stated that this special train service between Podanur and Chennai Central was previously limited to select dates as per the scheduled schedule, but has now been extended to accommodate more passengers.
Under this service, train number 06028 is running from Podanur to Chennai Central. This train will run on June 20, 21, 23, 28, 29, and 30, as well as July 3, 4, and 5. The train will depart from Podanur at 7:40 am every scheduled day and arrive at Chennai Central station at 4:45 pm the same day. The timings of this train have been scheduled to allow passengers to travel during the day and reach their destination by evening.
In the return direction, train number 06027 is running from Chennai Central to Podanur. This train will also be available on the same scheduled dates. The train will depart from Chennai Central at 5:45 pm and arrive at Podanur station at 3 am the next day. This night service on this route is useful for passengers who prefer to travel at night after a long day of work or other activities.
According to railway officials, the main objective of increasing this special train service is to manage passenger congestion and reduce pressure on regular trains. Due to the constant passenger traffic between Chennai and Coimbatore, such additional services are proving to be very useful for the public. Working professionals, businessmen, and students travel in large numbers on this route, for whom this train has become an important alternative.
Southern Railway states that, based on passenger demand and feedback, additional train services may be introduced in the future if necessary. This expansion is expected to directly benefit thousands of passengers and provide some relief from ticket availability.
This service will not only facilitate travel but also strengthen regional connectivity. This move by the Railways is being considered a significant effort towards increasing the efficiency and passenger amenities of the rail network in South India.
