Mahasamund. Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is a government scheme whose main objective is to provide free electricity to households in India. This scheme has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 February 2024. Under this, subsidy will be provided to the beneficiaries for installing solar panels on their rooftops. Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme has been started by the Central Government to provide 300 units of free electricity per month, in which the target has been set to install solar panels on the rooftops of one crore houses in the country. Under this scheme, beneficiaries can install solar panels on the roof of their houses. Along with this, provision for subsidy has also been made on setting up solar plants as per different capacities and loans will also be provided at cheap interest rates and the subsidy amount will be deposited directly into the bank account of the beneficiary.
Under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, there is a provision of subsidy on capacity-wise installation of rooftop solar plant, which is as follows: Under 1 to 2 kilo watt rooftop solar power plant capacity, there is a provision of Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 subsidy for 0 to 150 monthly electricity saving units. Similarly, Rs 60,000 to Rs 78,000 subsidy will be given for 150 to 300 monthly electricity saving units under 0 to 3 kilo watt rooftop solar power plant capacity and Rs 78,000 subsidy for more than 300 monthly electricity saving units under more than 3 kilo watt rooftop solar power plant capacity.
