Preparations for swearing-in ceremony in full swing in Chennai, tight security at Nehru Stadium; Vijay to become Chief Minister

Tamil Nadu: Security and administrative preparations have been completed in Chennai for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Tamil Nadu government today. TDP leader Vijay is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today (May 10). Security arrangements have been tightened at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in the capital, Chennai.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., and leaders and supporters from several political parties are expected to attend. The administration has made extensive security arrangements for crowd management and VIP movement.

According to reports, the TDP won 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. However, the support of 118 MLAs is required to form a government in the state. Initially, the party fell short of the majority mark.

Meanwhile, the Congress and Left parties had already announced their support to the TDP, requiring the support of two more MLAs to achieve a majority. This political situation took a new turn when the VKC and IUML submitted their letters of support on Saturday.

With the addition of these new letters of support, the total number of MLAs supporting the TDP has reached 120. This gives the party a clear majority and clears the way for government formation.

The swearing-in ceremony of Vijay as Chief Minister and his cabinet is being held today. The ceremony is taking place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, where elaborate preparations have been made.

In view of the security arrangements, the Chennai Police have deployed a heavy police force in the stadium and surrounding areas. According to officials, approximately 6,000 police personnel have been deployed for security. The entire area is being monitored under the leadership of the Police Commissioner to ensure a peaceful event.

Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi is also expected to attend the ceremony. His arrival is considered politically significant, as it presents a larger picture of the new coalition’s support.

According to political analysts, this government formed with the support of the Congress, the Left, and other allies is creating a new equation in Tamil Nadu politics. Having surpassed the required majority, the party now faces the challenge of maintaining stable governance and coalition balance.

The swearing-in ceremony in Chennai is being considered a turning point in state politics, marking the formal inauguration of a government under new leadership.
