President Murmu took a ride in Prachand’s helicopter

Jaisalmer: President Draupadi Murmu today flew in the light combat helicopter Prachanda. She conducted a sortie for about 25 minutes. Murmu flew in Jaisalmer district, which is on the India-Pakistan border. The helicopter took off from Jaisalmer Air Force Station. Before takeoff, the captain gave a briefing to President Murmu about the helicopter. She waved to her from the cockpit. Murmu flew in the capacity of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Murmu said from the cockpit of the helicopter that the Prachanda helicopter stands as a powerful symbol of self-reliance, that she is roaming in Jaisalmer district, and that she is extending her heartfelt greetings to our brave soldiers. She said that she is saluting the soldiers, Jai Hind, Jai Bharat. The helicopter circled near the Pokhran firing range. This is where the exercises in the name of Vayu Shakti will be held this evening.

Murmu created a record by becoming the first Indian President to fly in a combat helicopter with today’s sortie. It is known that in October last year, she flew in a Rafale fighter jet from Ambala Air Force Station. In April 2023, she flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter plane. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has built the LCH Prachanda helicopter. It has been designed and developed completely with indigenous knowledge. It has advanced avionics, stealth features, night attack capacity, and the ability to carry air-to-air missiles.
