Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended best wishes on the occasion of Hindi Diwas
Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on the occasion of Hindi Day. He wrote, “Warm greetings to all my family members on Hindi Diwas. I wish that the Hindi language will continue to strengthen the thread of national unity and goodwill.” On this day in 1949, Hindi language was adopted as one of the official languages of the Republic of India. Written in the Devanagari script, the Constitution of India accepted the Hindi language as the official language of India on 14 September 1949. The official language of the Union will be Hindi and the script will be Devanagari. The form of the figures used for the official purposes of the Union shall be the international form. This decision was taken on 14 September, which was the 50th birthday of the great Hindi litterateur Vyawar Rajendra Singh, hence this day was considered best for Hindi Diwas.
