Protesting AAP workers detained
New Delhi: Some AAP workers protesting outside Raj Kumar Anand’s residence in Delhi’s Patel Nagar area following his resignation and allegations against the party were detained.
“We have detained some AAP workers who were protesting outside Anand’s house. They had no permission,” said a senior police officer, adding that the cadres were taken to a nearby police station and would be released soon.
AAP workers gathered outside Anand’s house on Friday and raised slogans against him, accusing him of betrayal and pressure tactics against the party.
Anand, Social Welfare Minister in the Arvind Kejriwal-led government, resigned from his post on Wednesday.
It is understood that he has also resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party.
Speaking to the press, the AAP minister bared his soul and shared the reasons behind leaving Chief Minister Kejriwal’s government even though he was holding 7 departments.
“I am resigning as minister. There is no morality left in this government to remain in power,” he told media persons.

He said, “I have come into politics on Kejriwal’s promise that politics will change and the country will also change. Sadly, politics has not changed but leaders have changed,” he said, expressing displeasure over the party’s changed stance on corruption.
Lamenting the party’s plight, he said, “AAP was born from the womb of the anti-corruption movement, but today it finds itself trapped in the deep roots of corruption.”
He also criticized the AAP leadership for abandoning the teachings and legacy of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and distorting his ideals as necessary.
