PRTC starts investigation into issuance of fake Aadhaar cards
Agartala: West Tripura District Magistrate has initiated a thorough investigation into a suspected case of fraud in the issuance of Aadhaar cards and Tripura Permanent Resident Certificate (PRTC).
The investigation was initiated after a review of Aadhaar cards and PRTC revealed discrepancies, which indicated that some individuals possessing these documents had falsely claimed residence in Tripura. Surprisingly, these individuals were found to be living outside the state, despite giving Tripura addresses on their official documents.
Addressing reporters, DM Vishal Kumar revealed that the investigation also revealed the involvement of some brokers operating in the western district of Tripura, which shares a vital border with Bangladesh.
These brokers were identified as contributors to the creation of fake Aadhaar cards and Tripura Permanent Resident Certificates (PRTC), he said.
“We have initiated an investigation by a senior officer within the office to get to the bottom of this matter. If any official or non-official entity is found involved in these activities, strict action will be taken,” warned the district magistrate.
Furthermore, Kumar highlighted the cooperation with local law enforcement, saying, “We have also informed the police regarding this matter.
