Puducherry election alliance: DMK held talks with other parties, excluding the Congress.

Tamil Nadu: DMK chief and MP Jagathrakshakan held discussions with other parties regarding an electoral alliance in Puducherry on Tuesday, excluding the Congress party.

He also stated that the DMK and Congress leadership would decide who would lead the INDIA alliance in Puducherry.

In Tamil Nadu, the Congress is yet to finalize its alliance with the DMK. With the Puducherry assembly elections approaching, the DMK has initiated alliance talks with other parties.

The Union Territory of Puducherry has 30 assembly constituencies. Discussions on Tuesday focused on the number of seats each alliance partner would receive and which constituencies would be allocated to them.

DMK senior leader and MP S. Jagathrakshakan led the discussions at the DMK headquarters. Representatives from the Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Nadu participated.

From the DMK, state organizer R. Siva, Speaker S.P. Sivakumar, and MLA R. Senthilkumar participated.

CPI secretary A.M. Saleem, former MLA Nara. Kalinathan, CPI(M) secretary S. Ramachandran, Niravagikal Rajangam, Perumal, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Nadu’s Dev. Pozhilan, and others participated in the separate discussions. During these discussions, it appears the CPI requested 4 seats, the CPI(M) 2 seats, and the VKC 3 seats.

MP Jagathrakshakan reportedly told the alliance party leaders that he would inform the DMK leadership about their demands and that an appropriate decision would be made. The alliance parties stated that the DMK leadership had asked them to hold these discussions first, and that the senior leaders had informed them that talks with the Congress would be held later.
