Punjab: 181 more arrested in war against gangsters

Punjab: Under the “War Against Gangsters” campaign, Punjab Police arrested 181 people and seized two weapons, bringing the total number of arrests since the drive began to 9,442. On the 27th day of the campaign, police conducted 516 raids across the state and mapped locations linked to gangsters. Preventive action was taken against 67 people, while 139 were verified and released after questioning. Seven proclaimed offenders were also arrested during the operation.
Meanwhile, the anti-drug campaign “War Against Gangsters” continued for the 352nd consecutive day. On Monday, police arrested 77 alleged drug traffickers and seized 2 kg of heroin, 1,345 narcotic tablets or capsules, and Rs 69,120 in suspected drug money. With these arrests, the total number of alleged drug traffickers caught during the 352-day campaign has reached 49,841. A government spokesperson said that as part of de-addiction efforts, police persuaded 16 people to undergo rehabilitation treatment.
