Punjab: 3 youths died after car fell into a pond

Punjab: Three youths of a family died after their car fell into a pond in Dittupur village late Thursday night. All three were the only sons in their families. The deceased have been identified as Hardeep Singh, 30, a marine engineer, Inderjot Singh, 26, an employee at Verka Milk Plant, and Kamalpreet Singh, 18, a Class 12 student. The accident occurred when five youths were travelling in a Maruti Zen car.

Due to heavy fog and darkness, the driver could not drive the vehicle on the road. One youth got down from the car and showed the way to the driver using a torch light from his mobile phone. But due to poor visibility, the car went off the road and fell into a nearby pond. One of the four people in the car was rescued, while the other three drowned. The car with the bodies was later pulled out of the pond. The bodies were taken to a hospital and handed over to the respective families after post-mortem. The last rites were performed on Friday evening.
