Punjab: 5.4 kg heroin, Chinese pistol, ammunition recovered from cross-border smuggling

Punjab: Troops of the 65th Border Security Force, operating under the Abohar Sector Headquarters, interrogated two suspects and recovered 10 packets of heroin. These packets were reportedly dropped by a drone from Pakistan near the international border in Jalalabad. A case has been registered at the Jalalabad Sadar police station, and the investigation has been assigned to Inspector Shimla Rani.
An Inspector-rank officer serving as a company commander at the Jalalabad Sadar police station reported that during patrolling on the night of November 23-24, a 50-year-old man named Karnail Singh of Chak Bajida and Gurpreet Singh Lovepreet (27) were seen in suspicious circumstances in the Tahliwala area. It was later discovered that they were in phone contact with a drug smuggler in Pakistan. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
Fazilka Senior Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh said today that a raid was conducted at the home of Baljinder Singh in Chak Tahliwala. Police found 10 packets of heroin – 5.414 kg wrapped in yellow tape – along with a Chinese pistol, four magazines, and 12 rounds of .30-bore ammunition. He has now been named in the FIR and efforts are underway to arrest him.
