Punjab: A person found in an inebriated state in Hamira, police took action
Punjab: A video showing a man in a drunken state in Hamira village is going viral on social media, following which the police has taken action. Kapurthala police have arrested the man and confirmed that he was drunk and will be hospitalised. An FIR has also been registered in connection with the incident. The viral footage shows the man slouched on the road. He is first shown leaning against a wall on the road, then playing with plants and sitting near an electricity meter.
Throughout the video, he is seen unsteady, staggering and speaking indistinctly. The incident highlights the ongoing concerns about drug abuse in the Kapurthala area, especially the Subhanpur-Hamira-Boot-Dogranwal area, which is known for drug-related activities. Viral videos of drug-affected individuals have repeatedly raised concerns about public health. “We have initiated proceedings in the case under section 27A of the NDPS Act. We have already started treatment of other such persons,” said Aman Nahar, SHO of Subhanpur. Police confirmed that the man will be put under treatment.
