Punjab: By-election program announced for the posts of Sarpanch and Panch

Punjab: The Punjab State Election Commission has announced the schedule for by-elections to 90 posts of Sarpanchs and 1,711 posts of Panchs. Polling will be held on July 27. According to information received from the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, after the general elections to the Gram Panchayats were held on October 15, 2024, 90 posts of Sarpanchs and 1,771 posts of Panchs are vacant in various districts.
The State Election Commission has announced the by-election schedule to fill these posts. According to the schedule, the first date for filing nominations in the offices of the respective Returning Officers will be July 14 (between 11 am and 3 pm). The last date for filing nominations will be July 17 till 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on July 18 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be July 19.
