Punjab: Delay in Sarabjit’s return from Pakistan

Punjab: Sarabjit Kaur, who went missing after traveling to Pakistan, failed to return on Tuesday. She was expected to return to India via the Attari-Wagah land route. Media members awaited her arrival, but some reports claimed that her repatriation was halted after intervention by Pakistan’s Home Ministry. However, local police officials said they were unaware of any firm schedule for her return. Attari Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yadwinder Singh said, “Due to some documentation issues, she could not be brought back yesterday. She was expected to return on Tuesday.” Sarabjit had gone to Pakistan on a visitor visa as part of a group of Sikh pilgrims on November 4, 2025, for the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary. She disappeared from there. Subsequently, reports emerged that she had converted to Islam and married a Pakistani citizen. A senior police officer stated that upon her return, she would be questioned by intelligence and security agencies, in addition to the Punjab Police.
