Punjab: Farmers educated on care and storage of fruits, vegetables

Punjab: A two-day training programme on post-harvest care and management of fruits and vegetables concluded today under the guidance of Amit Nath, Head, Regional Centre, ICAR-Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET). The programme was coordinated by Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr Arvind Kumar Ahlawat, Scientist Dr Mahesh Kumar Samota and Assistant Chief Technical Officer Prithvi Raj.

The participants were informed about various techniques to reduce post-harvest losses as well as proper storage methods of fruits and vegetables. The training also included information on the facilities available to farmers at the Regional Centre in Abohar. Besides, the participants were also introduced to various products made from fruits and vegetables and their marketing processes. The programme was attended by 210 participants from the Scheduled Caste community from various villages of Fazilka.
