Punjab: Farmers will block rail traffic for 2 hours today
Punjab: Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) have announced a two-hour rail roko agitation across the country on the third anniversary of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, which is likely to disrupt train services tomorrow. In 2021, eight people, including four farmers, were killed during protests against the three now-repealed farm laws. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said the protest will begin around 12.30 pm. He said rail blockades will be held at 35 places in 15 districts. Apart from seeking justice for the victims of Lakhimpur Kheri, farmers also want to pressurise the government to give legal guarantee on MSP. Protests will be held in Batala, Gurdaspur, Patti, Tarn Taran, Tanda, Qila Raipur, Sahnewal, Phillaur, Lohia, Talwandi Bhai, Mallawala, Makhu, Guru Har Sahai, Moga, Patiala, Malout, etc.
