Punjab: Four people including a woman arrested on charges of drug smuggling

Punjab: Punjab Police on Tuesday said they have busted a drug cartel by arresting four people, including a woman, and seized 5 kg heroin from their possession. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the arrested persons have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi (19), Baljit Kaur (32) and Maninder Singh (34) of Tarn Taran and Harpreet Singh (26) of Lodhi Gujar village in Amritsar.

Apart from recovering heroin from them, the police teams also seized two motorcycles. DGP Yadav said all the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and were receiving consignments of drugs from across the border. He said investigation revealed that the consignments were being dropped with the help of drones. The DGP said further investigation is underway in the matter to establish further links in the case.
