Punjab: Human rights panel seeks report on death of pregnant woman

Punjab: Taking suo motu cognizance of the news item “Nurse, not doctor, performed operation; pregnant woman dies in hospital,” published in these columns on October 4, the Punjab State Human Rights Commission has summoned a report from the Fazilka Civil Surgeon.
The Civil Surgeon must submit the report one week before the next hearing date on October 23. The Commission ordered that a copy of the order, along with a copy of the news item, be sent to the Civil Surgeon by email and post for compliance.
