Helpdesks set up for CGST related queries

Mumbai Mumbai: The Finance Ministry on Monday said that Central GST Commissionerates in the states have set up helpdesks to resolve queries of taxpayers from June 16-30. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented on July 1, 2017. GST subsumed about 17 local taxes and 13 cesses into a 5-tier structure, thereby simplifying the tax system.

“As part of the celebration of #8YearsOfGST on 1st July 2025, all CGST Commissionerates in the states have set up helpdesks to quickly resolve any queries on GST during the GST fortnight from June 16-30, 2025,” the Finance Ministry said in a post on X. In eight years, the number of taxpayers registered under GST has grown from 65 lakh in 2017 to 1.52 crore.
