Punjab: Organizations pledged to cooperate in the upliftment of the deprived
Punjab: Office bearers and workers of various social and philanthropic organisations pledged to work for the upliftment of the poor and underprivileged by acting as a bridge between the administration and the beneficiaries in the implementation of social welfare schemes launched by the Central and State governments. The pledge was taken during ceremonies held at various places for distribution of ration, woollen clothes, tricycles and wheelchairs. Conveners of various units of Rotary Club, Lions Club, Samaj Kalyan Sangathan and Munde Ahmedgarh Day claimed to focus on working for the upliftment of the poor and underprivileged.
Chief Advisor of Rotary District Amjad Ali said, “Though our units are already working in the seven focus areas of the organisation, we have planned to facilitate the implementation of welfare schemes of the government by sharing the responsibility of organising camps and related programmes.” Tarsem Garg, Patron of Samaj Kalyan Sangathan Ahmedgarh said that efforts would be made to organise joint programmes in collaboration with other social organisations so that maximum number of beneficiaries could avail the services provided by the organisations. Assistant Governor-elect Surinder Pal Sofat said a panel has been formed to assess the needs of residents of various localities with an aim to ensure optimum utilisation of available resources.
