Punjab: Party Panthers continue their winning streak in Golf League

Punjab: Party Panthers continued their winning streak with a 5-2 win over Golf Ninjas in the ongoing Chandigarh Golf League 2024 here. The win has sealed their place in the knock-out stages as they have drawn level with their opponents on the Group-A Leaderboard with one match left to play. Captain 18 kept their qualification hopes alive with a 4-3 win over the ever-improving Seven Iron while Pirates of the Green registered a stunning win over Swinging Samurai (4.5-2.5). In the final match of the day, Sultans of Swing defeated Punjab Aces to maintain their undefeated streak and put them in a prime position to get a bye into the quarter-finals.
The Panthers started the day on a positive note with the Ninjas taking an early lead in most of the games. Both singles games took place in the last course, with Girish Virk winning 1 up for Ninjas while Ramnik Tiwana made a dramatic turnaround to win the last three holes to overcome a two-hole deficit. The Panthers’ three pairs dominated the four-ball game by winning 3&2, while the Ninjas managed only one more point. Seven Iron continued their lead. Despite the marginal loss, they played with great determination. Col AS Bajwa won his singles for Captain’s 18 along with his partner Randeep Singh, who managed to cross the line in a closely contested match. Seven Iron performed the better of the two teams in the four-ball game, with Col BS Rangi and Gurjeet S Lehal winning 5&3. YS Bains and Wing Commander LS Sandhu winning a point for Captain’s 18 in the anchor game 4&2.

The Samurais came into the match on the back of a crucial win in their previous match, but could barely maintain the momentum set by the Pirates today. Muneet Jakhar gave them the opening point with his singles, while the pair of Ashray Gakhar-Major General KJS Thind completed the points by winning the anchor game 5&3. Despite SK Sharma’s 5&4 win in singles, the Samurais could not pull off a victory like they did against Seven Iron as all other games went down to the final hole. Yogeshwarpreet Ghuman (2&1) and Tarun Lehal (5&4) won their singles matches to give Sultans the lead. The first two four-ball games also went in Sultans’ favour, with six games ending on the final hole or thereafter. The Aces won the final three games by beating the pair of Harpreet Singh-Baljinder Sidhu 2&1.
