Punjab: Shiromani Akali Dal will celebrate Tohra’s 100th birth anniversary

Punjab: The senior leadership of the Akali Dal has decided to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Panth Ratna Gurcharan Singh Tohra on September 22 in a big way. Addressing party workers, Balwinder Singh Bhundar, Executive Chairman, SAD said, “There are conspiracies to finish the Akali Dal politically, but all such conspiracies will fail.” He said that though it is unfortunate that incidents of sacrilege took place during the Akali Dal government, the opposition defamed the SAD by politicising these incidents. Bhundar targeted the so-called Panthic leaders and questioned why they are silent on the recent incidents of sacrilege including intrusion by a man into Darbar Sahib, entry of uniformed police and firing at a gurdwara in Sultanpur Lodhi. He said, “These leaders have never opened their mouth before. People of the reform wave are hell-bent on defaming the Akali Dal.”
