Drug de-addiction theme will be promoted in Sundarnagar’s Nalwad fair

Himachal Pradesh: The state-level Nalwar Mela will be celebrated with traditional grandeur from March 22 to 28 at Sundernagar in Mandi district. This year the mela will be based on the theme “Nasha Mukt Sundernagar, Swasth Sundernagar”. Sundernagar SDM Amar Negi announced that the mela will include various awareness activities to promote a drug-free community, which will continue even after the event. Two major state-level fairs are held in Sundernagar every year- Nalwar Mela and Suket Devta Mela, which will be held from April 2 to 6. A preparatory meeting chaired by SDM Negi reviewed last year’s financial statements and discussed the successful execution of both the melas.
He stressed on maintaining their traditional and cultural significance while ensuring careful management. To enhance the impact of the mela, government departments will set up exhibitions and suggestions have been invited from officials and committees. Several committees have been formed to handle logistics, security and other arrangements. Special seating arrangements will be made for the deities to ensure smooth conduct. The fair will feature five cultural evenings, as well as a variety of competitions including wrestling, sports competitions, traditional costume competition, cattle and dog show, baby show, food festival and bicycle race. These activities are aimed at providing entertainment as well as promoting local culture and traditions.
