Puri gears up for sacred Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings

Puri: The holy city of Puri is buzzing with spiritual fervour as final preparations reach their climax for the sacred Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, scheduled for tomorrow.

On this auspicious occasion, the decorative painting and colourful adornment work on the iconic Snana Mandap (Bathing Pavilion) of the Sri Jagannath Temple has entered its final stage.

During Snana Yatra, the deities are ceremonially bathed with 108 pitchers of sacred water, marking one of the most important rituals before the annual Rath Yatra.

After the sacred bath, the deities enter the traditional Anasara period and remain out of public view for 15 days before appearing again during Rath Yatra.

Lakhs of devotees are expected to gather in Puri to witness the sacred ceremony. The district administration and police have made elaborate security, crowd management and traffic arrangements to ensure a safe and smooth festival.

The Snana Yatra is one of the biggest religious events in Odisha, reflecting the deep faith and rich cultural heritage associated with Lord Jagannath.
