QUEPEM: Curchorem to have Goa’s second sub-district hospital
Quepem: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the 82-bed Curchorem Community Health Center will be Goa’s second sub-district hospital after Ponda.
Speaking at the ceremony organized to inaugurate the upgraded Curchorem Community Health Centre, he said the second sub-district hospital would be operational after some time as proper procedures have to be completed. He cautioned people that all the facilities in the new complex would not be available immediately, but assured that they would be provided to them soon through Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and local MLA Nilesh Cabral.
“There is a need for more hospitals in Goa to ease the pressure on the GMC,” he said, adding that the Curchorem center will also have a dialysis unit.
Admitting that there was a financial constraint earlier, he said it had now been overcome and assured that all pending works in the constituency would be completed within the next three years.
He said, “Nilesh Cabral has sacrificed the post of PWD minister for the sake of the party and his sacrifice will not go in vain.”
Rane said that he will try to make this hospital the second sub-district hospital within the next two days and assured that all facilities will be provided within the next 6 months.
Giving this assurance, Rane said that we are trying to bring private doctors to work in government hospitals and have already signed an agreement with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai in this regard. He assured that emergency room and cardiac services will start soon in Curchorem.
Local MLA Cabral thanked the Chief Minister and the Health Minister for providing the hospital to his constituency and informed that apart from his constituency, this hospital will also benefit the people of neighboring areas as it has piped oxygen supply to all the beds. There is convenience.
“I was criticized for not inaugurating this hospital earlier, but the delay happened because I did not believe in inaugurating without providing some basic facilities,” he said. He said that he feels proud to provide such good facilities to his voters.
