Raids to check food safety in eateries
Bhubaneswar: The food safety team of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has continued its drive to check the quality of food at various places in the city, reports said.
BMC teams are working hard to maintain food hygiene and cleanliness in eateries in the Odisha capital. BMC has conducted raids in Rudrapur, Hanspal, Jaydev Vihar and Nayapalli areas. It is noteworthy that synthetic food colors and stale items have been destroyed. Fines have been imposed for the pollution and samples have been sent to the laboratory for analysis.
Earlier the team had inspected various hotels near Gajapati Nagar and Nayapalli area. It is noteworthy that the BMC team destroyed the expired food and samples of the food were sent for testing. BMC’s enforcement team also imposed fines on hotels.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) team had earlier advised them to maintain cleanliness but there was no improvement. BMC further warned that, “We request everyone to maintain a hygienic environment of at least 5 meters and above around their shops and establishments.” Team BMC appeals to everyone, “Keep two dustbins, segregate the waste and hand it over to the BMC Safai Gadi (vehicle) during collection.
