Railway officer arrested for taking bribe of Rs 3 lakh
Gorakhpur: Even though a lot of efforts are being made to stop bribery in the country, it is still not stopping. CBI has arrested a senior official taking bribe from Gorakhpur, the headquarters of North Eastern Railway on Tuesday. After this arrest, legal action is being taken against the officer. It is alleged that the officials were taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to manage the tender.
Gorakhpur resident Pranav Tripathi had given a written complaint to the Superintendent of Police, CBI, Lucknow that Railway officer KC Joshi was demanding bribe from him. He does not want to pay bribe. Apart from this, the complainant had told that he is the proprietor of Sukti Associates. His firm is registered on GeM portal. Through his firm, he provides products and services to North Eastern Railway Gorakhpur and other government departments. In the month of January, he had received the tender for supply of 3 trucks in North Eastern Railway through GeM portal. For this he is paid Rs 80 thousand per truck per month.
Pranab Tripathi said in his complaint to CBI that KC Joshi, the Chief Material Manager in North Eastern Railway, has threatened that if he does not pay a bribe of Rs 7 lakh, his tender will be canceled from the Gem portal. He has also written a letter to cancel the registration of the firm. Apart from this, they are also talking about canceling his old ongoing works. This entire reference was given by the victim in the complaint letter given to the Superintendent of Police of CBI. After this complaint, CBI officials took the matter seriously and started taking action against the officer.
